About our speaker, Rabbi Balter:
Rabbi Mauricio Balter is the CEO of Masorti Olami, the global Masorti Movement across Latin America, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia, as well as MERCAZ Olami, the political party representing the global Masorti/Conservative Movement at the World Zionist Congress and on the boards of the World Zionist Organization, the Jewish Agency, and KKL/JNF. Under his leadership, the Masorti Movement not only remains the mainstream form of Judaism in Latin America, but it has supported Jewish communities in Ukraine throughout the devastating war there as well as strengthened Masorti communities in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, and Poland. As a member of the Executive Board of WZO, Rabbi Balter works to promote Masorti/Conservative values and interests, including advancing religious pluralism in Israel and securing critical funding for Masorti/Conservative communities and their programs in Israel and around the world. A native of Montevideo, Uruguay ordained in 1991 at Seminario Rabinico Latinamericano Marshall T. Meyer in Argentina, Rabbi Balter has served as a congregational Rabbi in Northern Argentina, Buenos Aires, Kiryat Bialik, Israel, and Beer Sheva, Israel.
